This section contains information about the latest release of the module such as release history, changes made to the current version and the list of known issues.

1.  Release History

Adaptive Print Studio 1.3.0. rev. 130628.

InDesign Connector and InCopy Connector:

• Updated version of InDesign Connector plugins for Adobe InDesign CS5.5 and CS6 (MAC & Windows).
• Updated version of InCopy Connector plugins for Adobe InCopy CS5.5 and CS6 (MAC & Windows).

Print Studio Center:

• Updated version of Print Studio Center applications.

InDesign Server Engine:

• Updated version of InDesign Server Engine plugin, for Adobe InDesign CS5.5/CS6 Server.

Sitecore Print Studio InDesign Processing Service:

New features

InDesign Connector and InCopy Connector:

• Plugin settings in the panel menu: Now users are able to change the publishing cache folder location and the list of Sitecore URLs.

InDesign Connector:

• Adding items on a page opened for editing, with drag and drop.
• Reassigning items on a page opened for editing, with drag and drop.

Deprecated and removed features

• The IDC Template panel is removed.
• Reassignment of text/image items with drag and drop directly in the project tree is disabled.
• Scripts and Tasks libraries are excluded from the Extension panel.
• Ability to add a default value to a template field of image type is disabled.
• The right-click feature is blocked for all ICC panels.
• Now the snippets library (Libraries panel) is only a container. It is no longer possible to change or open the snippets directly from the snippets library.
• Ability to add a single item (image/text/shape) by drag and drop from existing project or master snippet to page snippet in the project tree is disabled.
• Deleting child text/image items in the Project tree is disallowed.

Important changes

InDesign Connector:

• New view of the Content panel. The data sections and fields are shown in a panel below the tree, for each content item.
• New view of the Media panel. Left panel with image library content tree; Right panel with thumbnail view of the content of selected folder; Image preview panel below the tree.

Improvements

InDesign Connector and InCopy Connector:

• Changing storage place of config.ini file to a location specific to the user. Now users cannot overwrite their settings.
• Distribution of all cache files in folders per each used Sitecore CMS.
• Clear cache operation now clears only the cache files from the target Sitecore CMS you are connected with, not the whole cache.
• Added information in the panel menu for the Sitecore/Sitecore user you are currently connected to.
• The snippet’s name (both item and display) remains unchanged after content item assigning to it.
• Long names visible as a tool tip message in each IDC/ICC panel.
• Ability to keep InDesign documents opened when publishing APS documents.
• Information message for the result of Clear Cache operation.

InDesign Connector:

• New project documents are automatically assigned the default master document.
• Ability to add items to a snippet by using drag and drop from the page to the snippet.
• Manner for creating snippets with drag and drop items from the page opened for editing to the page in the project tree.
• Manner for creating snippets using the Save button in the Project panel. All newly added items on the page opened for editing, are added in a new snippet in the project tree after the save operation.
• The text/image item’s name (both item and display) remains unchanged after reassignment of the items through the Content panel/Media panel.
• Now duplicating page in the Project panel means to create a copy of the page, with same item and display names and page number which is the next after the last page item number.
• Ability to load in APS documents QR code image without Width and Height fields in the template, both for regular usage and inside a content merge:
  • To generate a QR Code image we have encode options with Width, Height, Foreground, and Background. If there are valid values for these fields (Width, Height, Foreground, and Background), they will be used, if not, the following default values will be applied: Width - 150, Height - 150, Foreground - Black, and Background - White.
• The dialogs for choosing item name and display name are combined in one dialog.

Other:

• New naming convention for Adaptive Print Studio services. The leading Sitecore Print Studio is added to the name of the services.
• Adaptive Print Studio performance counters implementation, about web services and publishing engine performance testing.

Issues resolved

InDesign Connector and InCopy Connector:

• QR images are not visible using Use High Resolution Images option.
• The Language icon and language name are not updated when the Project panel is not on focus (not shown).
• Problem with static images caching and using: If cleared, the Library Reference of the image in the target CMS, the image remains visible after the republishing with IDC/ICC.

InDesign Connector for Mac:

• The output result files (PDF, SWF) are not placed in the default cache folder (InDesignProjects) when either ExportSWF or ExportPDF settings for P_Book item are set “True” in the Sitecore CMS.

InDesign Connector:

• Added possibility for document’s folders reordering.
• Image scaling type Center Content is applied to the original size of the image not to the current size of image on the page.
• Using image scaling type Fit Frame to Content, the image is moved from its initial position after republishing the page.
• Linking dynamic text frames (content flow) fails when assigning content item after the process of linking frames.
• Saving existing master document was overwriting wrong master document when more master documents with the same item name exist. 

Print Studio Center:

• In some scenarios, the z-index of the “Default” layer is not displayed correctly in the Print Studio Editor.
• Missing relation between IDC and Print Studio Center representation of image scaling. The scaling types available in the IDC are partially represented in Print Studio Center.
• If Convert or Upload operation fails for some reason, an e-mail notification for the success of the operation is received, instead of failure message.
• If second publishing task is started before the first one is finished, the second task fails.The info messages in the Print Studio Center are not on focus when appear and the Enter key applies actions over the dialog under the info message.
• Each published or previewed page containing linked frames (text flow), shows the first frame from the flow with border, as overflowed text frame.
• InDesign crashes when publish some document/page, if P_Book's parameter CreateBook is `True`.
• Images and QR images loaded event issue, switching between APS center applications - the unsaved changes are lost.

Other:

• Using 32-bit Image Processing Service on 64-bit machine Upload Files procedure fails.

2.  Known Issues

The list of known issues in the Adaptive Print Studio module:

• InDesign Connector: we should not be able to reassign dynamic image with external static image, but we are able to replace the image on the page. This change cannot be saved, but replacing dynamic image with external static one, on the page, is not disallowed.
• InDesign Connector: we are not able to create a snippet (to add/save) from items grouped on the page (through InDesign).
• InDesign Connector: for a duplicated page containing linked text frames we obtain cyclic dependence between the flow in the source page and the flow in the duplicated page. In order to avoid this cyclic dependence we need to clear the flow names of the text frames in the duplicated page manually. The same relationship (cyclic dependence between the flows) is observed using master snippets with text flow, created (copied) from the same project.
• InDesign Connector: if you copy a static text frame on the page that is part of text flow, the new text frame becomes dynamic and is assigned with referenced item name content.
• InDesign/InCopy Connector: in some cases, a warning is displayed in the InDesign desktop/InCopy desktop when a horizontal and/or vertical line is published. Just ignore the warning when it appears; the line is published correctly. The problem remains only for InDesign CS5.5 and InCopy CS5.5
• InDesign/InCopy Connector for MAC: High Resolution images remain unreachable if they are stored somewhere in the network and have Windows path format. 
• Print Studio Center: not displayed correctly on client computers that use a resolution of less than 1152x864px. The recommended width is 1152px minimum. On screens with a lower resolution, the scroll bar and command buttons are shown in two rows.
• Print Studio Center: using a complex structure in combination with a very large amount of items, can degrade performance. This can be solved by performing a database, indexes, and links clean-up in Sitecore.
• Print Studio Center: in some cases the conversion of an EPS file does not generate a preview image. This is caused by the thumbnail image data in the EPS file.
• InDesign Server CS5.5 (JP/EN) – active X error for Japanese OS 2008 server version (32/64bit). InDesign Server CS5.5 Japanese or English version does not publish and shows error in event log. Work around is use English operating system for running InDesign Server CS5.5.
